Recruiting

Our transit agency clients rely on us to find the best possible talent for each position and create a team that delivers safe, friendly, helpful, high-quality service to passengers.

We take recruiting very seriously. We make most selections of personnel locally, but our corporate recruiting director has developed many initiatives to support our local teams. For example, we have developed beneficial national contracts with the best Internet job-finding sites. We have developed standardized screening templates for many positions with well-designed interview questions, as well as performance criteria for all our jobs, ensuring that our standards are shared across the company. To support our locations in their recruiting efforts, we also have standardized artwork and print copy for newspaper ads, secured beneficial pricing for temporary workers, standards for job fairs and employee referral programs, and much more.

Our local teams have developed a great deal of sophistication in recruiting for operators, maintenance staff and many of our operating positions. In addition, we often transfer people with particular competencies from one part of the country to another, to provide them with greater career opportunities and to support client needs. Finally, we conduct drug and background checks on all employees in safety-sensitive positions.

Benefits

Veolia offers a competitive benefits program. We strive to offer competitively priced plans and to negotiate good rates with excellent health care insurance providers.

To best address our people’s needs, our benefits vary based on the geographic location, and on union contractual requirements. Some benefits are automatic and fully paid by the company, while others are voluntary and require an employee’s election and contribution. Our list of services and benefits packages may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, flexible spending accounts, tuition reimbursement, paid holidays and vacation, direct deposit and retirement programs including 401(k)s.

As a global company, Veolia Transportation is aware our employees have diverse needs. And because no one knows our employees’ personal benefits needs as well as they do, our company offers competitive and flexible plans that provide them the opportunity to customize their benefits once they become eligible. Because needs change with time, we also offer employees an opportunity to modify their plans annually.
