Our Philosophy: It’s About People

We know that our success depends on our people. Within the transportation industry, Veolia Transportation stands out as an employer of choice—and for good reason. We’re innovators and leaders in the ever-changing world of public transportation. We recruit talented, motivated people, and we provide a high-performance environment where they can learn, grow and thrive. We mentor and train our employees to equip them for success, and offer competitive compensation and benefit packages.

We also strive to create and maintain a positive work environment by listening to our employees, recognizing achievement and valuing teamwork. We respect the dignity of each person and each role in our company. We support career development and strive to offer advancement opportunities. We take our Values and Code of Conduct very seriously.

We demonstrate our commitment to a healthier planet by reducing emissions and our carbon footprint, and by taking action every day to adopt more sustainable practices in our offices, facilities and vehicles. Where appropriate, we also work to attract more people to ride public transportation, since getting more cars off the road is the biggest positive contribution we can make to the environment.

We have an unrelenting commitment to satisfying the city and county transit organizations that contract with us to manage their operations, and an equal commitment to take excellent care of their passengers. Our employees share our company’s passion for quality service and this has helped us to become the industry leader with operations in over 150 locations in the US.

We believe that diversity is essential to our long-term success. We strive to recruit and maintain a workforce that meaningfully represents the diverse and culturally rich communities that we serve. We nurture inclusion, because it brings a variety of backgrounds, experiences and ideas to our company. We foster diversity in our employment practices, vendor relationships, procurement standards, community-oriented activities and communication practices.

We are more than a service provider: we’re a member of the community.
At Veolia Transportation, we don’t just operate in communities, we belong to them. We provide services, contributions and volunteers in support of local school, minority and charitable initiatives.

We aim to be responsible, integrated citizens of every community we serve. And when the need is especially great, we try especially hard to help.

    • When New Orleans was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, Veolia Transportation donated $1 million toward restoration efforts. Although our bus services were disrupted, we ensured that our employees’ income wasn’t: we continued to pay them throughout the disruption.
    • In Las Vegas, we annually collaborate with our client to sponsor a school art contest where students create designs to “wrap” a city bus. The top design is screened onto a bus so everyone in Las Vegas can see the winning student’s artwork.
    • In Texas, Veolia staff restored and – with the help of worldwide civil rights organization the United Latin American Citizens League – donated a Paratransit-equipped van to a family in Mexico unable to provide mobility for their severely handicapped son.
    • In Sonoma County, a Veolia team helped build a home through Habitat for Humanity for a needy family there.
